I've been very keen on photography since aged 10, after received a good camera for my 10th birthday.
Right through secondary schooling I was a member of the school photography club , learning how to use a camera plus developing and printing photos.
I've maintained a keen interest in photography right throughout my life (now in my 60's!) Of course once digital photography came in to vogue, I was very quick to embrace it and have a good selection of digital cameras and a useful selection of lenses.
Over the last 10 years I've has had work published in assorted media in NZ and overseas, plus won awards in competitions. My work is published on a regular basis in the Southland Express and The Otago Daily Times and NZ Petrolhead magazine.
I lived in Kalgoorlie (West Australia from 2008 to 2014 ) to work and was able to obtain some great photo opportunities whilst there. After returning to Southland in 2014 – I became involved in a wide variety of photography including sports photography and producing calenders yearly.
There is no real specialist area these days , I enjoy a wide sphere of photography and still supply photos for varied media sources. I also like to travel out of town to take scenery and landscape photos especially to the Catlins and Central Otago.
Wedding photography and family portraits are very much on the agenda ! – However should you wish Dave Loudon Photography to photograph the happy occasion – it certainly pays to book well in advance , Due to my commitments with motorsport photography etc.
When not hanging on to a camera I like to get out and cruise in my 1972 MG BGT Sports Car.
